Solid Surface is an elegant material available in a variety of colors and patterns. It gives a rich, luxurious feeling to kitchen counters, work islands, wet bars, vanity tops, window-sills, tabletops and many other applications.
Solid Surface is not only beautiful, it is also very durable. Solid surface is resistant to stains, bacteria, heat and impact. It is non-porous with same color and pattern running throughout its thickness. This combination of features provides a deep, rich appearance that is easy to care for, so it's beauty can be preserved for years to come.
Routine cleaning and Care
Solid Surface is nonporous and can be easily wiped clean with a damp cloth or sponge and mild soaps or detergents such as Mr. Clean or Lestoil. The matte finish can be maintained by using a wet purple Scotch-Brite pad (7447), of if in the case of a satin finish use a wet grey Scotch-Brite pad(7448). Rinse with water and towel dry.
Precautions
Do not place hot pans directly from the burner or oven on the countertop surface. Even though some brands of solid surface can withstand some heat or cold, extreme temperature variations will damage the surface. Always use a hot pad or trivet under all heated appliances (such as crock-pots, electric skillets, coffee pots, etc) and hot pans. Extreme temperature swings should be avoided. When pouring hot water (from boiling pasta, etc) into sink, always run warm water to reduce temperature extremes. Heat damage may void your warranty so precaution is advised.
Do not use your countertop as a cutting board. Although minor cuts and scratches can be repaired by the consumer, deep cuts will require our team to come back out and repair, which is an extra expense.
Do not ever stand or sit on your countertop.
Spills and Stains
While most everyday spills can be removed with the cleaning techniques listed, some troublesome spills and stains such as food dye, tea and fruit drinks may require more aggressive cleaning. These items can be removed using full strength bleach for two to five minutes, followed immediately by a general cleaner and then flushing with water. You may attempt to scrub out a stain with a wet purple (matte) or wet grey (satin) Scotch-Brite pad.
Strong acids such as those found in drain, toilet bowl and oven cleansers should be used cautiously around solid surface. If these items are accidentally spilled, wipe them up at once and rinse with water. Some of these harsh cleaners if left on the countertop may cause whitening, which can be difficult to remove.
Should a lighted cigarette accidentally come in contact with the surface, it could leave a nicotine stain or a scorch mark. Either of these may be removed by cleaning with buffing from a wet Scotch-Brite pad.
Removing Scratches
Matte Finish - Use a mild abrasive cleansers and a maroon 7447 Scotch-Brite pad in small circular motions. Feather out into surrounding countertop with larger circular motions.
Satin Finish - Use dish soap and water and a grey 7448 Scotch-Brite pad in small circular motions. Feather out into surrounding countertop with larger circular motions.
Should the above maintenance steps create a variation in the surface finish, proceed with the blending step over the entire countertop surface. It may be good to practice in an inconspicuous spot.
